Vogue Japan- Moschino

We were so honored when Vogue Japan asked us to be in their Sister Style Icon Story for the September Issue. Here are some outtakes from our shoot! We picked our favorite pieces for Fall and wore head to toe Fall 2015 Moschino! We had the best time shooting and even made it to a baseball field where these B-Ball jersey tops made a cameo and went all gangsta Looney Tune style on the field! BATTER UP! We love this Collection so much, especially the graffiti bags and the workman boots. Jeremy Scott has done it again! We are also obsessed this Fall with Ashish's studded denim faux fur jackets, Sara Sboul's cute face handbags and Jeremy Scott's patchwork jackets from his namesake label. Fun Fact: This dress is the most awesome Birthday present custom made by our incredibly talented sister, Chloe who is a fabulous textile designer!!! She hand drew all of our favourite cartoons and pop images that we are obsessed with and put them all together with our Beckerman Blog skull logo. Then she made the most stunning dresses for us for our Birthday! It was the BESSSSST surprise ever!!! This dress is filled with soooo much love and awesomeness--Its so special because Chloe made this amazing textile from scratch! And turned it in to a pajama style dress! OBBBSESSED! My sunnies are by the talented Anna- Karin Karlsson who makes the most gorgeous sunnies. I just love the red flowers and how bad ass they are! Pin It Now!

Fun Fact: I'm in love with these Dior Fusion shoes for Fall 2015! They are the coziest aqua socks and they have jewels on them! I love the pink soles. They are the coolest and so beautifully made. While I was blogging, the cutest Groundhog popped up. Groundhog day! He was sooo adorable and he was nibbling on peanuts while I was blogging. It was so funny! This bag is from www.outtherenyc.com and its an artist collaboration created by Maria Brito and Artist Trudy Benson and its called the Gusto clutch. Its so fabulous.

Chocolate Bar DIY JEANS!

It is officially chocolate day! We teamed up with Commonthread to create the chocolate bar jeans of our dreams. And we are talking about a whole lot of variety! We painted them by hand and embroidered them with DMC thread. Not only did these jeans put us in a chocolate frenzie but we had the best time making them and eating some chocolates along the way.

SUPPLIES:
A pair of jeans Pants
Paints and brushes
Permanent Marker
Pen
DMC Embroidery thread
Hand sewing needles and thread
Scissors
Fabric Glue Optional
Jean patches- extra denim

We used an old pair of vintage Levi's jeans because we love how they fit. Make sure you use jeans you love, because with all the time and effort of making these, you gotta love them when they are finished. We then washed a bunch of cut up denim swatches and threw them in the dryer so that they would have frayed raw edges. We had different color denim scraps which you can use as well. We love the trend of patches on jeans. But this is taking it to the next level by making your own patches. Next up we printed some chocolate bars that we are obsessed with to follow as a guide. On the darker denim swatches we used a permanent marker to free hand the chocolate bars. On the lighter denim swatches, we mapped it out with pen. We think its better just to free hand and have fun with it and not worry if they look a little kooky. It makes the jeans look more hand made and have more personality. We almost ran out of room when doing the last "s" on the Snickers bar and now it looks extra cute. After painting the jeans on the patches we then took the embroidery thread and stitched highlights and creases in to the hand painted chocolate bars. Up close you can see the stitching, but from far away it just blends right in. Its those special little details up close that makes it look exquisite. The last step is hand sewing the patches on the jeans. We did this with a needle and thread and a quick whip stitch up all sides. It's helpful to use a piece of cardboard in between the pant leg to help the hand sewing process. You could also glue the patches with fabric glue to the jeans instead of stitching them..... and VOILA! Our Chocolate Bar DIY JEANS are done! But don't forget to take a BREAK a la Kit Kat while you are making these jeans for an extra sugar high! Fun Fact: Kilt, pearls, chains, camouflage, combat boots, and high pony tails! Just call me Tank Girl! I have been lovin' this whole 90's girly punk look, mixed with a whole lotta nature. I'm totally going through a Kilt phase right now... and would wear one everyday if I could. My quilted little black Moschino bag jacket is the most fun bag for the summer and goes with everything. I had the best time hanging with Cailli at Toronto's most magical garden, Edwards Gardens! It's so peaceful watching the water, seeing the ducks swim around!
